Alex: A background He lived in third floor of one of those apartments that had been build during the Industrial Revolution. When the population exploded and the only place to put people was up. From above, the building was shaped like an H that had been squashed on the top and bottom. Lines of washing stretched from opposite windows, so that families that couldn't afford the luxury of a tumble dryer, could at least have the luxury of clean clothes. Yes, it was that side of town.
